All of about 2 minutes...

Okay, so Dad and Mum VDH you've got all of about 2 minutes to get to our place if you want to see it looking like this (but I took some photos just so you could savor the moment and see that it does look like this sometimes)...

bedrooms tidied...

bathroom sparkling...

Cupboards straightened (to my degree of straightness...This is Ashlyn's cupboard and you should have seen it before I started :) )...

Junk removed...

windows able to be looked through to view the gardens that are in tip-top shape (but then, they always are - thanks to your son!)

playroom organisedish (I know, I know it's not a word, but it fits the situation)...

kitchen cupboards able to be opened without everything falling out...

I said you've got 2 minutes, because before I can blink (and I can blink pretty fast) things begin to change.  There's this cute little man in our household (who I know you are just going to love even more when you come to see him again)...

...and he's just so cheeky...  He loves emptying the cupboards (I stopped him just as he was getting started this time...or I would have had to start tidying all over again) trying desperately to restore them to their former open-the-door-and-everything-falls-out glory...

He's always wondering what kind of mischief he can get up to next...

...like throwing all his snacks out on to the floor and then laying next to them to enjoy eating them...

...before loudly declaring (with gestures and voice): "all gone" when noticing that the aforementioned snacks are no longer in his bowl...kind of happens when you tip them on the floor...

Yes.  Andrew's parents hope to make their way here on Saturday (leaving their home on Friday, already).  So what do you do when your in-laws are coming?  Clean, tidy up, rearrange...  It's not that they really care... I think... Anyway, they never make me feel like I need to tidy and clean for them.  It's just that there's this inbuilt mechanism (in me, anyway) that wants to have things in tip-top shape when visitors come...

And I do like things tidy and orderly and an upcoming visit is a good motivator for me to get things moving in that direction.  So thanks for heading our way Dad and Mum, not just so that we can enjoy your (excellent) company, but also for the cleaning motivation it gives to me...

  2. Thanks for all of the above, dear Nat! We truly appreciate your warm, loving comments and efforts, and you know we don't expect you to spruce everything up for our benefit; we love all of you as you are. Having said that, I can relate to your activity, as we've just done the same for our "house-swap" guests,(but only to a small degree). We are SO eagerly looking forward to seeing you all in about 48 hours, Lord willing. XOXOXO Mum
